|Jonathan Glashow, MD
Dr. JONATHAN GLASHOW is a Board Certified orthopedic surgeon and Co-Chief of Sports Medicine at New York’s Mount Sinai Medical Center and has been in private practice for 18 years. He specializes exclusively in shoulder and knee injuries including advanced arthroscopic all-inside anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, double-row suture bridge rotator cuff repairs, as well as state of the art techniques to repair labral, meniscal and condral injuries.
Widely respected for his precision and application of ground breaking surgical techniques, Dr. Glashow’s approach is based on a philosophy that each individual procedure is specific and customized to the individual needs of each patient. He uses minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques so that downtime and immobility are greatly reduced. Dr. Glashow’s focus is not only a patient’s full recovery but the speed of that recovery to return to sport. To optimize this intent he coordinates post operative care which often involves interaction with physical therapists, coaches, and athletic trainers.
Routinely consulted for his opinion and treatment of elite athletes, Dr. Glashow acted as a medical media consultant for ESPN Sports and was a frequent guest on their morning sport commentary “Cold Pizza.” His guest appearances on news broadcasts include, CBS World News Tonight and most recently on CNN Evening News with John Roberts for his expertise on the usage of platelet –rich plasma (PRP) injections for expediting the healing process of certain injuries. He has been quoted in the New York Times, the New York Daily News, and the New York Post. For his superior patient care, Glashow has been awarded numerous distinctions. Castle Connolly a major healthcare research company has ranked him one of America’s Best Doctors, New York magazine has featured him in numerous annual Best Doctors issues, and he has been listed as one of New York Metro Area’s Best Doctors every year since 2000.
He completed his undergraduate degree at Washington University. After receiving his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College, Dr. Glashow completed his residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in Orthopedic Surgery. He went on to earn subspecialty fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute/UCLA in Los Angeles, California: followed by a traveling Shoulder Fellowship in London, Ontario Canada and the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Bryan Hanypsiak, MD
Dr. HANYPSIAK is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Hip Arthroscopy and minimally invasive treatments of Arthritis in the hip, knee and shoulder. He has authored numerous articles and book chapters on these topics, holds a U.S. patent for a surgical device, and is a member of the International Society of Hip Athroscopists (ISHA) and the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS).
Dr. Hanypsiak completed his residency in Orthopaedic surgery at The George Washington University Hospital. He then completed a Fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic, where he provided care for the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers and multiple other area sports teams.
He now serves as the Director of Medical Education for Arthex, Inc., the world’s leading sports medicine device manufacturer. He is responsible for coordinating the continuing education of over 10,000 orthopedic surgeons worldwide, traveling frequently to promote cutting edge surgical techniques.
Prior to enrolling in medical school, Dr. Hanypsiak was himself a successful amateur athlete. He competed in the U. S. Olympic Festival in 1994 and in the Empire State Games from 1988-1993, and now serves on the Board of Governors for New York’s Empire State Games. His athletic career included a second place finish at the United States National Championships for Team Handball in 1995. After suffering a career ending knee injury, he dedicated his life to helping other athletes return to the sports they love. He uses the latest technology, including platelet rich plasma and robotic surgery, to offer advanced medical care to patients seeking a return to athletic activities.
Keith E. Pyne, B.Sc., D.C
Dr. KEITH PYNE, managing partner of SportsLab NYC, currently specializes in working with specific injuries primarily within the world of professional sports. Dr. Pyne’s treatment concentrates in neuromuscular structural integration that resolves injuries and biomechanical discrepancies by addressing the problem in the body’s kinetic chain system. He has created specific applications that result in accelerated recovery and permanent elimination of underlying problems linked to injury. Unlike traditional methodologies and other approaches that are symptom-focused and may provide temporary relief, Dr. Pyne’s methods correct the actual causal, often unrecognized, pain source. CHRISTOPHER PREZZANO, originally from Rhinebeck, NY received his degree for Physician Assistant studies from Touro College on Long Island in 2004 and has been involved in orthopeadic surgery for over ten years. He joined Dr. Glashow in early 2009 and now lives in Manhattan. As a Physician Assistant he treats and educates patients in the office as well as assists Dr. Glashow with all of his surgical procedures.
